Notes on recent events
US election, media bias, the trouble with fake accents, Western jihadists (and their apologists), Elon Musk, and other tasty morsels
Greetings!
This post is a roundup of my recent Substack ‘notes’ (see the section below which explains what these are).
The aim is to provide a quick summary of the topics I’ve been addressing in these notes, along with links to some of the more interesting/popular ones.
I’ll be releasing one of these roundups every month or so from now on.
SUBSTACK NOTES
(N.B. You can skip this section and jump to ‘Roundup of recent notes’ if you already understand what Substack notes are and where to find them)
I write articles and essays on here as and when I can. Like this one, these get sent straight to your email inbox.
I also write regular ‘notes’ on the Substack app (generally around five a week). These notes do not get sent to your inbox - they only show up in your Substack ‘feed’. That means that unless you use the Substack app or website quite regularly, you probably don’t see them.
You can find them under the ‘notes’ tab at the top of the newsletter homepage (if you’re struggling, see ‘How to find/read the notes’ below).
Most of you probably don’t use the Substack app very much, which means you also probably don’t see my notes. And that by extension means you’re missing out on what has been described as ‘almost certainly the greatest body of written work ever produced in human history’ (source: me).
Does listening to the BBC pretending to be impartial make you want to unplug your TV, shove it in the freezer, then repeatedly ram the freezer with a truck? Check out my notes instead. They’re free to read, and you’ll save money on freezers.
ROUNDUP OF RECENT NOTES
Here’s a screenshot of a note I wrote in October. There are links to many more set out below it.
Notes on Islamic extremism, Israel/Palestine, and related topics
Here’s one on the Muslim conquests, and the historical illiteracy and internal contradictions that characterise much of contemporary ‘activism’ (includes a video).
Here’s one I wrote on the anniversary of the October 7 pogrom.
Here’s one featuring an interview clip from Sky News that truly needs to be seen to be believed (includes a video).
Here’s one on the strange tendency for critics of Hamas to get abused and threatened at pro-Palestine rallies (includes a video).
Here’s one on the decision by British universities to give a woman who refers to Israel as a ‘Shit stain upon the human race’ (direct quote) multiple awards for ‘contributions to race equality, combatting discrimination and promoting diversity and inclusion’.
Here’s one on the revelation that the suspect accused of murdering three beautiful kids in Southport has been charged with possessing a PDF document alleged to be a study of an al-Qaeda training manual.
Here’s one including a photo I took in London that went mega-viral on X/Twitter (nearly 650,000 views and 45k likes).
Here’s one based on a quote by John Aziz debunking the argument that the only reason a jihadist terror group (Hamas) has control of Gaza is Israel’s behaviour.
Notes on politics, the media, race, and related topics
Here’s one on the way that outrage culture is weaponised to stifle legitimate discussion of essential facts and statistics around race and crime (includes a video).
Here’s one on the failed attempt to turn a violent British gangster into the new George Floyd (includes a video).
Here’s one on why it’s so completely unbearable when progressives (or anyone else) fake their accent to sound working-class (includes a video).
Here’s one on Trump getting shot, and the liberal response to it.
Here’s one on Kamala Harris’ blatant lack of principles, and liberal discourse more broadly.
Here’s one on the problems with Trump/MAGA-heads.
Here’s one on the reasons that people feel there’s a two-tier justice system in Britain.
Here’s one on the shortcomings of Ta-Nehisi Coates’ arguments.
Here’s one on why they hate Elon Musk (includes a video).
HOW TO FIND/READ THE NOTES
Substack is pretty hard to navigate, but hopefully this handy screenshot will help. The notes tab is next to the ‘home’ tab, click on it and you can scroll back through all the notes I’ve written in recent weeks/months.
WHAT’S COMING UP?
I’ve recorded an interview with Wilfred Reilly, who’s an associate professor of political science and the author of a number of great books, most recently ‘Lies My Liberal Teacher Told Me’. It’s a banger - we walk through the various progressive myths and false narratives that have come to dominate our culture in recent years. The current plan is to release this as a series of articles, though as there’s a video of it I might turn it into a podcast instead/as well. If you’re a subscriber you’ll get this straight to your inbox.
P.S. the page passed 5000 followers last month. That’s amazing, thanks a lot!
If you do feel like supporting my work, why not consider upgrading to a paid subscription? They are a huge help.
Cheers!
